Avoiding Weight Gain and Unhealthy Eating During Shelter in Place
The situation we find ourselves in is causing us to shift our lifestyle choices and habits a lot, don't you agree?
After the shelter-in-place mandate happened, one of my thoughts was: I'm going to gain weight from being at home all day, near my fridge!
Not to mention the temptation to soothe distress with food—which many of us share—and, with two college students now living at home, my kitchen cabinets are filled with chips and other snacks that I wouldn't buy for myself.
If this sounds like your experience, please join me for my Online Mindful Eating Course which starts next week. Details below.
Now more than ever, it would be helpful to learn how to make healthy eating choices, and how to choose activities that will truly soothe us, instead of trying to eat our way through them (which is neither effect nor sustainable!).
And—we need to be gentle with ourselves at the same time. Included in this class is a Mindful Self-Compassion Practice with Food. :-)
Mindful Eating: Making Healthy Choices and Managing Weight Through Eating With Intent
Eating “healthy” is more than just having your vegetables—it’s also the choices you make about what, when, and how to eat.
Everyone can benefit from infusing more mindfulness into meal time.
This interactive class will give you instruction and experience in the practice of mindful eating: how to do it, and why it’s worth it.
You’ll glean expert insight on what mindful eating does for your health, and practical tips on how to make it a habit, as well as helpful information about nutrition, cravings and habit change.
Each class you’ll be guided through your own mindful eating experience, so you can come away with everything you need to make your next meal, a mindful one.
* This class is being offered through Stanford's Health Improvement Program. For Stanford employees this class is STAP funds eligible, and you will receive a Berry or the completion of your BeWell Engagement.
